Why We Collect Information About You
The University of Edinburgh Business School collects your information in order to facilitate your progress on the MBA and EMBA programmes under the legal basis of contract and in line with GDPR. We also use your information to support our accreditation and rankings activities.
What Information We Collect
The information we ask for includes personal details regarding your career, dietary requirements, special access requirements, and contact information.
Who We Share Your Information With
We will share your personal information with a number of third parties (external to the core MBA Support Team), including:
- Travel agents, hospitality suppliers, and company representatives for the purposes of your participation in business engagement treks, professional development events, and social events
- Internal and external faculty (directly involved in the delivery of the MBA and EMBA programmes), external companies providing projects, case-study suppliers, and guest speakers for the purposes of your participation in course work
- Professional Development tools for the purposes of your participation in this course including psychometric testing suppliers (Career Leader, Belbin, MHS and Strengths) and online career-support platforms
- Our accreditation bodies (AMBA, EQUIS, and AACSB) to ensure that we continue to retain our accreditation standards at both MBA/EMBA programme and Business School level
- External ranking agencies (such as the Financial Times, The Economist) to maintain our representation in MBA global rankings
- Internal departments including the Business School's Quality and Accreditation Team, the PR and Communications Team, and Marketing
- Partner universities if you undertake a period of exchange or summer school
We will retain your information for these purposes for up to five years after which point it will be deleted. This does not impact your official University record.
